New Delhi: A class 9 student was allegedly abducted and gangraped by three people, including two students, at Modi Nagar area of Ghaziabad on Thursday. The police on Saturday arrested the three accused – including an MBA student– for the crime.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon when the 14-year-old was returning from her embroidery classes.
The three men identified as Lalit Kumar, Rajan Kumar and Guddu allegedly approached her, forced her into their car and raped her at a house.
“The three men forced the girl into their car and took her to Rajan’s rented house where they gangraped her and later dumped her outside the locality at about 4 am. She walked along the railway tracks and reached home and told us what had happened. We lodged an FIR. When police raided the crime scene, they recovered beer bottles and the car used during the crime,” the minor’s brother told HT.
Rajan is pursuing his MBA studies at a private college in Ghaziabad while Lalit is studying in a college in Modi Nagar. The girl is a class 9 student at a school in Modi Nagar and had joined embroidery classes after her final examinations were over recently.
The three accused were arrested and booked under section 363/366 (abduction), 386 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and under the provisions of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
“We arrested the accused from Kazampur area of Modi Nagar. The girl will be produced before the magistrate to record her statements (under section 164 of CrPC). She has been sent for medical examination. Further investigations are on,” superintendent of police Jagdish Sharma said.
The three accused are in the age group of 20-25 years and were produced before a Ghaziabad court on Saturday afternoon.
They, however, denied all allegations against them and said the minor was friendly to Lalit Kumar, her neighbour.
“She was pressuring me to marry her and later left for Delhi on the day of the incident. She arrived late in the evening and stayed at Rajan’s house and refused to go back to her house. When I consoled her and dropped her to her locality, her family members saw us and lodged the case. The girl is giving such statements on the insistence of her family members,” Lalit Kumar claimed.
