INDORE: Union minister for steel and mines Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday said the BJP had never said “achhe din ayenge”. The slogan, he told reporters in Indore, was coined by people on social media during the Lok Sabha elections.

Tomar, here to participate in a clutch of programmes, said several slogans had become popular on social media during the general elections. One slogan, which got traction, was, “Achhe din ayenge” and “Rahul Gandhi nani ke ghar jayenge”.

“It was the people who coined these slogans, the party never said achhe din ayenge,” Tomar told reporters while their recording devices were on.

Tomar said the people brought “achhe din” by defeating the Congress. “Digvijay Singh and Rahul Gandhi are having burey din (bad days),” Tomar said.

On rising prices of onion and pulses, Tomar said the government is doing its best to control inflation. All measures are being taken to check rising prices of essential goods but at times the situation is not favourable, he said.
