A 32-year-old woman was allegedly held captive and gang-raped by three persons, including the son of a policeman, in the Bisauli area of Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district, police said on Sunday.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) LR Kumar, the victim, along with her two children, was taken to an under- construction house by a man named Himanshu when she had gone out to purchase medicines on Friday night.

On Saturday, after being released by the accused, the woman told local residents about her ordeal and went to the police.

On the basis of the victim’s statement, a case has been lodged against Himanshu, Khalifa alias Pramod and an unidentified person.

In response to the news of the gang-rape, BJP leader Laxmikant Bajpai flayed the UP governmentover the dismal security situation in the state, adding, “There is nothing like law and order in Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister isn’t capable of maintaining security, and we do not think he will be able to restore peace in the state.”
