Bangalore: In yet another case of crime against children, a 6-year-old girl from a reputed school in Bangalore was allegedly sexually assaulted on last Tuesday.

The police has detained a 40-year-old suspect who is the victim’s teacher in connection with the case. Reportedly, the victim had complained to her mother after the incident on Tuesday after which the mother approached the police seeking further help.

On Thursday the police detained a suspect and is investigating the matter extensively. The police has maintained that will not name the alleged culprits in a hurry.

This is the fourth case of rape reported in the past four months. The striking factor in all these rape cases is that all these children belong to well known, prestigious private schools.

The rape of the 6-year-old comes a week after the rape of the 3-year-old girl raped in Bangalore, which had left the entire nation agitated. People even took to the streets in the past few months demanding safety of their children in schools.

Coincidentally, this case has come to light on a day when the Karnataka High Court pulled up the state government and had put the onus on them to ensure safety guidelines in schools. Directing the state government to take steps for a safer school environment, Justice Venugopal Gowda had ruled, “No serious effort have been put in by the education department and effort by the state government is not coordinated.”
