On 6th January 2014, security forces entered the village of Revali in Dantewada District and shot one Bhima Nupo around 10:00 AM. Nupo was unarmed and the firing was unprovoked. The entire incident was witnessed by Nupo’s wife Budhri. The force proceeded to beat up few villagers and took away some of the poultry.
The wife and the Sarpanch of the village Deva proceeded to the police station to record an FIR in the incident. During this point they were intimidated by the police and instead of recording the incident as an encounter death by the police, it was recorded as an incident of naxalites killing Nupo despite the clear statement of the wife that her husband was killed by the police.The villagers then approached Soni Sori and Linga who went to the village.

Presently, few villagers, Soni and an advocate from Jagdalpur Legal Aid Group are at the SP office demanding the registration of an FIR against the police. The pressure on the villagers and Soni to keep quiet on the matter is increasing and there might be possible repercussions against them. We shall update you with the developments in this case as when they happened.
