Mahendragarh, April 25

One of protesters, Shri Ram (55), sitting on an indefinite fast was admitted to hospital on Friday after his condition worsened.

He is one of the 11 Dalits from district’s Sisoth village protesting for 100-square-yard under the Mahatma Gandhi Grameen Basti Yojana since April 21.

Nearly 15 Dalit families are up in arms against the village panchayat’s stand of not allotting them plots. “I accompanied a team of doctors to the dharna spot after getting information about the deteriorating condition of Shri Ram. He is under treatment at the general hospital,” said SDM Umed Singh Mohan. — TNS
