Lucknow:
Exactly a year ago, Mohammad Akhlaq was lynched at his Dadri home for allegedly storing beef at home. But police never found any meat at his place that night. However, 500 metres away from his place, police recovered meat that was later confirmed by a Mathura lab as beef. After this, those accused in the lynching moved court, seeking action against the Akhlaq family for cow slaughter. But now, the Gautam Budh Nagar po lice is all set to clear the Akhlaq family of this charge. This also puts a new spin to the case: how did the beef then land up near Akhlaq’s house? Who put it there?
Who slaughtered the cow or calf ? And why?
On the complaints of those named accused in the murder of Akhlaq, a local court in Surajpur had directed the Gautam Budh Nagar police to register a case against Akhlaq’s family under the UP Cow Protection Act, 1955. However, investigators have failed to find any evidence that could establish that a cow was slaughtered at Akhlaq’s house. CO-rank officer Anurag Singh, who had supervised investigations into the case, has maintained that investigators have failed to find knives or other weapons which could establish that a cow was slaughtered on the spot. Sources said po lice were preparing a watertight case before going for a final report to close the probe expected to follow in the near future. Senior superintendent of police, Gautam Budh Nagar, Dharmendra Singh, said that police were yet to conclude investigation into the cow slaughter case and would probe any charges levelled by either of the parties .“It is the duty of the investigating officer to take the probe to its logical conclusion,“ he said.Miss my father, says son
