AGRA: A Dalit girl pursuing MBA was allegedly duped of nearly Rs 2 lakhs in scholarship money by a private college here.

Hindustan College student Madhuri, whose annual family salary is less Rs 1 lakh was in a state of shock, when she applied for scholarship and came to know that another private college (Puran Prasad Gupta Memorial Degree College) had already applied to HRD ministry for scholarship money on her name.

Speaking to TOI, Madhuri who passed with first division in her BBA, stated, “For last four months, I have being running from pillar to post for my right of scholarship, which has being taken away from a private college by forgery.”

She said, “Runkata based PPGMDC used my marksheet, caste certificate and other documents photocopies to apply for scholarship money which is around Rs 2 lakhs.”

Madhuri claimed, “Last year in the month of June, during counselling in Khandari campus of Agra University, I was being offered PPGMDC to pursue MBA course, but I refused and took admission in other private college. Somehow, the PPGMDC management managed to grab hold my documents photo copies, and presented me as their student and applied for scholarship money by pasting some other girl’s passport size picture on the scholarship form along with my details.”

“The matter came to my knowledge only when I applied for scholarship in Hindustan college and it was revealed that PPGMDC has already applied for the same to HRD minister on my behalf. Now my college as warned me to pay the fee or I’ll be debarred from appearing in the second semester examination. I’m scared my career will be destroyed because of private college greed,” she told TOI.

As per documents received to TOI, the PPGMDC had even opened a bank account in PNB branch of Runkata in the name of Madhuri for the scholarship fund.

When TOI, contacted PPGMDC management, Dheeraj Shikarwar vice-president of the college stated, “The girl took admission in both the colleges to avail double amount of scholarship fund. She is lying and charging false allegation.”

When TOI enquired, if Madhuri had deposited any fee in the PPGMDC for the MBA course or attended classes, Shikarwar said, “She hasn’t yet.”

Since Madhuri belongs from schedule caste and obtained first division in graduation, she has legitimate right to have zero fee admission, for which central government gives scholarship.

Meanwhile, on Madhuri’s request, district magistrate Pankaj Kumar had ordered police to lodge an FIR in the matter and help Madhuri.

Speaking to TOI, superintendent of police for Agra city Sushil Ghule said, “We have received the girl’s complaint and FIR will be lodged against the private college in the matter.”http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/agra/Dalit-MBA-girl-student-duped-of-Union-HRD-ministry-scholarship/articleshow/50933604.cms
