A 23-year-old NGO employee, whose nude body was found in outer Delhi on Friday, was allegedly killed by two drug addicts, including a repeat sexual offender and a juvenile. The accused sexually abused her lifeless body.

Raja allegedly throttled the woman with his elbow, after which the duo took turns to rape her. The accused, who were under the influence of drugs, abused the body without realising that the woman had died. They allegedly told the police that they did not intend to kill her, said a senior police officer.

Raja (22) and his 15-year-old accomplice have been detained for rape and murder. Raja had in January allegedly sexually assaulted a minor girl in the same area and was jailed before being granted bail two months ago. Ironically, Raja was among the protesters who had blocked the road in Aman Vihar after the body was recovered.

After the incident had come to light, The Hindu had quoted local residents as saying they suspected inebriated and unruly youths in the locality behind the crime.

The victim, who was to be married early next year, had left for office on Thursday but failed to return home till next morning. Some women had found her body in an empty plot of land near a local street.

“Raja and his accomplice had consumed drugs on Thursday evening and were loitering on the road in Bhagya Vihar when they came across the victim. They followed her for some distance and then overpowered her on a dark stretch,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikramjit Singh.

The assailants left her body at the spot and fled with her purse. They abandoned the bag in a nearby plot and took away the cash and her SIM card.
