Megyn Kelly Says Roger Ailes Sexually Harassed Her Too, Sources Confirm

The network’s top host isn’t staying silent anymore.

After word of former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson’s lawsuit against Roger Ailes broke earlier this month, several talking heads spoke out in support of their boss. But as the story unfolded, Megyn Kelly—arguably the network’s biggest star—remained conspicuously mum on the allegations levied against Ailes.

Today, New York Magazine, citing two sources briefed on Century Fox’s probe of the CEO, reports that Kelly told investigators she was also on the receiving end of Ailes’ unwanted sexual advances at the beginning of her decade-long career at Fox News.

The news comes a day after reports surfaced that Rupert Murdoch, the CEO of Fox News’s parent company, 21st Century Fox, along with his sons Lachlan and James Murdoch, reviewed the findings of an independent investigation conducted by New York law firm Paul, Weiss, concluding that Ailes must either resign or face termination in the wake of Carlson’s allegations.

In a statement Monday, 21st Century Fox insisted, “This matter is not yet resolved and the review is not concluded.” But according to sources close with the investigation, Paul, Weiss has been conducting interviews with former Fox News employees who experienced harassment from the network head. According to Carlson’s lawyers, at least six other women have come forward with allegations against Ailes, but as CNN reports, Fox News employees are required to sign strict non-disclosure agreements that prohibit them from talking about their time at the network. According to New York Magazine, 21st Century Fox waived the NDAs in an effort to help the investigation.

Kelly, whose star power has risen dramatically in recent years, is currently in negotiations with Fox News; her contract is set to expire in 2017. Given her high ratings and name recognition, combined with colleague Bill O’Reilly’s suggestion last week that he’s considering retirement, the network could be making a power move to retain one of its most popular nightly news anchors. Still, the Ailes propaganda machine has reportedly targeted the Kelly File host for failing to support her boss publicly. According to New York Magazine, “Ailes spokesperson Irena Briganti has been criticizing Kelly to reporters, saying she is selfish to not stand up for the man who gave her career opportunities.”

But according to these reports, she has every right not to stand up for a man who sexually harassed her and several of her co-workers. Kelly has yet to comment on these reports.
