AHMEDABAD: A metropolitan court has asked a youth to give maintenance amount of Rs 3,000 every month to his ex-girlfriend, who filed a case under the Domestic Violence Act after end of their live-in relationship a year ago.

The girl lives in the Maninagar area of the city. Three years ago, she had gone to Hyderabad to undergo a training course in nursing. Through a common friend, she came into contact with a boy from Bhumel village near Nadiad town. The boy was not of marriageable age then. They started to live together and prepared a friendship contract.

After a year, dispute arose between them and the girl opted out of the relationship. The boy began harassing her by issuing threats and creating pressure to enter into the relationship again.

The girl filed a complaint before the metropolitan court under the Protection of Women from Domestic Act claiming that since they were living together, she was subjected to torture. Seeking protection against the harassment, she also urged the court to direct her ex-boyfriend to give maintenance and an accommodation too.

After hearing the case, the court has ordered the boy to pay Rs 3,000 every month to the girl as maintenance amount till the final disposal of the case.
