Rohtak, October 26
Parents of six minor students of the Dalit community here have stopped sending their children to a nearby school after some of their wards were allegedly stripped and paraded “as punishment” on Thursday.

Though the police claim that no formal complaint has been lodged, the aggrieved parents have decided to launch protest against police inaction.

Satish, a relative of one of the victims, said six students aged between eight to 10 were stripped and paraded by their teacher at a private school in the Shora Kothi area. He said that at least four of them were girls. These students were reportedly asked to take a round of the school ground in a half-naked condition as punishment for creating indiscipline in the school.

Kamlesh, mother of another victim, said her daughter was made to stand in the sun after being stripped. “ She developed fever on Thursday evening. We have not sent her to school since then,” she said.

“We went to the school and later to the nearest police station to lodge a complaint. But we were turned away by a head constable who also threatened us,” said Satish.

Victims’ relatives said they would be meeting the local MLA and other senior officials as “the police was trying to hush up the issue”.

Karan Goel, DSP (City), said that he was unaware of the incident. Hanuman Prasad, SHO (City), claimed that no complaint has been brought to his notice.
