A case under IPC section 354 (outrage modesty) and section 8 (sexual contact without penetration) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, has been filed.
After the incident, the girls complained to the principal, but the authorities at the school did not take any action. They then informed their parents, who lodged an FIR against Yadav with the Nehru Nagar police.
“The school was non-cooperative and made the police wait for four hours before providing Yadav’s address. The school’s slackness helped Yadav escape. He was not found at his Badlapur residence,” Nehru Nagar police inspector Vilas Shinde said.
TOI tried to contact the school management, but was fobbed off by a woman who took the call. She said the school was closed for the day.
On Thursday evening, the Class 8 students had been made to wait for an extra Marathi class. “Yadav came in and told the Marathi teacher to end the class because he wanted to take a PT test. Around 6pm, he took us to the school ground. When I told the PT teacher that I had a leg injury and could not undergo the test, he got annoyed. He came close to me and said he will teach me a lesson. He pulled my uniform down to the knee and misbehaved with me in front of the other students,” the victim said in the complaint.
Another girl complained that when she said she could not carry on as she was exhausted, Yadav “got annoyed and said he will strip her and make her stand in front of the boys.
