India spends Rs 9, 62, 90,365 on MPs foreign visits

NEW DELHI: At the time, when India is heading to witness another Lok Sabha election, we have come to know that a total of Rs 9, 62, 90,365 were spent on Lok sabha members foreign visits in last tenure (2009-13). The current and 15th Lok Sabha will complete its constitutional term on 31 May, 2014. The voting procedure will be held in all parliamentary constituencies to elect members for the Upper House of the Parliament.

As national and regional political parties gears up for the next Lok Sabha elections, In this piece of writing, we are presenting some facts about our representative and their foreign tours expenses. The idea is to inform people ahead of the elections, which would help them cast their votes.

we expect that these visits should be fruitful and helpful for the country or his/her own parliamentary constituency as it is the public money that are being spent on these tours. It is important to know if the money being spent are properly utilised and fetching some good instead of their peronal luxory.

During the period of 2009-13, members visited as many as 39 countries for International conferences and spent approximately Rs 9, 62, 90, 365,, according to a RTI Act. Considering the huge amount spent on these tours, our intention is to know whether these visits were really required?
