BHAGALPUR: At the time when people across the globe were busy celebrating diwali, two minor dalit girls (one studying in class eight and other in class six in a middle school) were raped by two middle aged persons near Asuraha village under Chandan police station in Banka district. One of the accused is 45-years old and the other is of nearly 34-years, said sources adding both the accused persons are close relatives (brother-in-laws).

According to sources, the victims were kidnapped while they were returning to their village after collecting fire woods on Sunday evening. The victims were taken away on a two-wheeler to a remote place on seeing them without any senior member and were raped by the kidnappers, said sources adding the kidnappers had also threatened the victims of dire consequences if they informed the police.
Confirming the incident, the Banka SP Pushkar Anand said that the victims in their statements said that they were kidnapped by Manjul Ansari (resident of Karmatand village) and Inamul Ansari (resident of Asuraha village). The victims, in their statements before police, narrated that they were raped by the duo and were abandoned at isolated spot, said the SP adding the victims were recovered by police on being informed by local people on Monday.
Statements of the victims have also been recorded in the court under section 164 of CrPC, said the SP adding the victims have been sent for medical examination besides for pathological tests. FIR against the accused persons has been lodged and Manjul Ansari (one of the accused) has been arrested and police is looking for the other accused, the SP added saying police have taken the matter very seriously and will see that justice is done to the victims.

Tribal woman gang-raped

 

 

A married tribal woman was allegedly gang-raped by five persons on last Sunday, but she reported the matter to police after one week of the incident. The incident took place in a remote forest village on the outskirts of Donkarai village on the borders of East Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts.

 

According to Rampachodavaram DSP Chaitanya Kumar, the 21-year-old woman was sent for medical tests to Rajahmundry government hospital by police after registering a case against the five accused under Section 376 D Criminal Amendment Act 2013, Section 341, 506 read with 149, Section 3 (2) (v) of SC, ST Act. The accused include one Sheik Kishore (25), Pangi Raju (23) and three others. The accused have been taken into custody.

 

The DSP said that last Sunday (Oct.27), the woman left for her mother’s house from Donkarai, which is about 4 km by walk to get firewood. On the way, she was waylaid by Kishore and Raju who took her to nearby bushes where three others were present. All the five gang-raped her after threatening her, the DSP said. “It is practically difficult to reach the spot where the rape had taken place and the entire terrain is not accessible. We are trying to elicit more information about the accused ,” he said.
