Kodagu, May 6:- The leader of Diddalli tribal community, Muthamma climbed up a tree and staged protest against clearing the huts of the tribal people. If the huts are removed, she would jump off to die, she said.

Police department sarted an operation to clear up more than 600 huts of tribes inside the Devamachi reserve forests of Virajpet Taluk.

More than 1,000 police officials involved in the operation. Protesting against the act, Muthamma, a tribal leader climbed up a tree and threatened of jumping off if the police continue the operation. She also urged for the CM to visit the spot to solve the problems.

Thousands of tribal people living in the area are staging protest in the area.

The tribals have agreed to shift to a place where the district administration had promised them of shelter. But off late they disagreed to shift. And they have shifted the huts from the roadside to the Devamachi forest. Forest officials and the police were requesting them to vacate the place through mikes. The forest department had told that it won’t allow anyone to stay in the forest.

The district administration is requesting them to move to the places marked by the district administration.
