Karuna Shukla, niece of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, calls Narendra Modi a liar, demands ‘azaadi’ from RSS
Shukla also backed JNU Student Union President, Kanhaiyya Kumar, and said that she also wants ‘azadi’ from RSS.
New Delhi, April 23: Karuna Shukla, niece of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who disassociated herself with Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) after 32-years service to the party, today slammed PM Narendra Modi government and said that she want freedom from hardcore Hindutva group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Karuna Shukla, who quit BJP and joined Congress criticised the Modi government and also called him a ‘liar’. Shukla said, “In last several years I have seen many governments coming to power, but it was for the first time when I saw one man (Modi) winning the elections based on complete lies.”
Shukla also backed JNU Student Union President, Kanhaiyya Kumar, and said that she also wants ‘azadi’ from RSS. Shukla, a former Member of Parliament from Jangir constituency lost elections in 2009 from Korba district to Charan das Mahant of the Congress. In 2014 Vajpayee’s neice had lashed out on BJP during the Lok Sabha elections campaign stating that her party was trying to appropriate the image of the former PM while completely ignoring his ways. She had also alleged that the Congress has taken to Atal’s model through numerous measures while BJP had ignored it in many ways.
Earlier Shukla had also attacked Rajnath Singh for wearing Atal’s angvastra (stole of Atal Bihari Vajpayee), during 2014 Lok Sabha campaign. She reportedly said, “By wearing angvastra he (Rajnath Singh) cannot become Atal’s blood or family”.
Shukla had alleged that, “after the era of Atal and Advani ended, few foxes have taken over the party and are running it with much cunning”.
