New Delhi: In yet another shameful act by a person in power, an NCP leader has been accused of molesting a minor girl in Maharashtra.
The 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by two youth earlier this month in the neighbouring Raigad district, and was also molested by a local NCP leader, Santosh Mandavkar, on the very same day of the incident.
The NCP leader is absconding as of now, and the police have launched a hunt to nab him.
According to media reports, the minor was gangraped on July 6by two men who were arrested the following day.
During further investigation the two men told police that on the very same day the NCP leader molested her as well.
Media reports quoted the Amol Zende, DSP, Roha, as saying that the NCP leader offered her a lift on the promise of dropping her home.
“The youth had dropped her at the highway near Nagothane village. The NCP leader seeing her stranded, offered to drop her home in suburban Borivali. But instead took her to a garage and molested her in the car,” said Zende.
A case has been registered against Mandavkar on Friday under IPC sections 354(A) (B) (sexual harassment), section 506 (criminal intimidation) and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
