Malegaon: Sara Ansari, a 14-year-old girl from Malegaon, won six gold and two silver medals while representing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Tournament of Champions held at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, USA in November.

Sara Ansari, a 9th grader at The Millennium School Dubai is the daughter of Iqbal Ansari, an engineer from Malegaon who lives in the UAE with his family. Iqbal Ansari is son of Ismael Ansari, former Principal of JAT Night High School in Malegaon – the Textile City in North Maharashtra.

“Sara Anari stood among top 10 in debate and received six Gold Medals in different subjects including History, Literature, Science, Art and two Silver Medals for writing and social studies”, Iqbal Ansari said in an e-mail conversation with ummid.com.

“Sara was the topper in WSC Dubai round, went to Bangkok during June 2016 for the Global Round Competition, won Gold and Silver Medals and qualified for the Tournament of Championship which was held at Yale University, SÁ”, he added.

WSC held regional rounds in more than 50 countries. Selected high-achieving teams in Global and Mini Global round qualified for Tournament of Champion held from 18-21st November 2016 at Yale University.

Founded in 2006, the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) is an international team academic program with students participating from over 50 countries. It focuses on bringing students from different cultures together to discuss issues and ideas relevant to today and the future.

The World Scholar’s Cup curriculum has six subjects relating to a larger theme which changes every year. The curriculum is designed to help students understand the overarching themes of the subjects and how they relate to one another.

“It was a unique experience which changed my perspective about the knowledge and education”, Sara told ummid.com in reply to a question.

Sara is acclaimed debater and winner of various Academic & Educational Excellence awards from Dubai and Sharjah government including Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance. She had also won Gulf Debate competitions held in the UAE.
