PUDUKKOTTAI: The CB-CID Anti-trafficking Cell, exhumed the body of a Dalit girl, who went missing two-and-a-half years ago under mysterious circumstances.

The CB-CID was able to trace the girl’s body after three days of struggle. The sleuths had first drained the water out from an irrigation well where the girl was suspected to have been dumped by her murderers at her native place.

When that did not work out for the investigators, they dug five feet deeper into the well and finally retrieved the remains of Sivasankari. It was the same well where Sivasankari had gone to take a bath just before she went missing.

On Sunday afternoon, the CB-CID sleuths managed to retrieve Sivasankari’s mortal remains at a depth of seven feet in the well. Later, her clothes and bangles were identified by Rengasamy and Rejeshwari, the girl’s parents. According to CB-CID investigating officers, the remains of Sivasankari would be sent to forensic lab in Chennai, where a DNA test would be performed to  confirm the veracity of the claim that the remains are indeed that of Sivasankari.

The 17-year-old Dalit girl, Sivasankari, a resident of Dhakshinapuram, had gone missing on May, 2012, from her village under mysterious circumstances. The case is presently being investigated by the CB-CID, following direction of Madurai bench of Madras High Court, after a case was filed by Rengasamy. The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court had ordered to transfer the case to CB-CID, as police could not track the body.

As per the court’s direction, DSP of Anti trafficking cell, CB-CID, had taken up the investigation of the case from August 9, 2014 and the sleuths of Anti trafficking cell made investigations over this case.
