MUMBAI: A deceased clerk and a few retired employees of the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation have been assigned poll-related duty. Disabled employees and emergency services staff of the civic body, like nurses and firemen, are also on the list.

At least 50 disabled employees of the MBMC‘s 1,500-strong staff will have to travel to Airoli and Belapur for election duty, primarily as polling and counting staff. Some of those assigned poll duty are wheelchair-bound. As far as possible, disabled government staff are to be exempted from poll duty. Even if given poll-related work, they should be assigned areas where they go to work.

Now, disabled and emergency staff have appealed to be taken off poll duty.
