Alleging harassment of the Muslim staff by the Dean of Sassoon General Hospital, Pune, Ummah First Foundation (UFF), a Delhi based NGO has written to the state health minister Jitendra Awhad seeking stern action against the Dean.
In his letter, Dr. M Shahid Siddiqui, Secretary of UFF said that Muslim staff of BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital, Pune have brought to their notice about the alleged harassment, mental and physical torture, persecution, discrimination and hatred by Dr. Ajay Asheboro Chandanwale, the controversial Dean of the College and Hospital, who is also blamed for nursing deep hatred for even Muslim scribes.
The letter also mentioned that UFF president had earlier brought this attitude to the notice of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar, as also to Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, then Minister of Medical Education, Vijay Kumar Gavit, State Chief Secretary , Secretary Medical Education and Director of DMER on the issue, but none had responded.
While strongly condemning the attitude of the Dean Dr. Ajay Asheboro Chandanwale for his anti-Muslim approach and attitude by terming it as against the spirit of secularism, UFF has requested the minister to immediately take stern action against him and transfer him if possible.
