Yogita Tandon: Haan ji (Yes).

Tehelka: Ya chowkidar hai… (Or security guard…)

Tandon: Haan haan… (Yes, yes…)

Tehelka: Unke accounts khulwane hai (I want to open accounts for them).

Second employee: Jo aap ye account khulwana chah rahe hain, Jan-Dhan mein aap open karwane, isse bank ko toh problem ho rahi hain na… customer toh khatam ho rahe hain bank ke… (Regarding the Jan-Dhan accounts that you want to open… the banks are facing problems… in fact, the banks are losing customers…)

Tandon: Yeh hai ki… isse kya benefit hai bank ko? (It’s just that… with this, how does the bank benefit?)

Second employee: Benefit kuch nahin hai… bank ko koi benefit nahin hai (The banks don’t benefit in any way).

Tandon: Ek accha customer aur ek waisa matlab accha paisa rakhta hai, maintain rakhta hai, toh bank ko bhi profit hota hai ki haan ek valuable customer humare pass aaya aur ek lower-class customer toh woh thoda sa farak padh jata hai… baki mana nahin kar sakta koi bhi bank usse kholne se (When there is a good customer, who keeps good money in the account and maintains it, then the bank also profits from it. When there is a valuable customer and a lower-class customer, there is a difference… However, no bank can say no to opening such accounts).

Apna nahi khulwana… mera toh already khula hua hai 3-4 banks mein (I don’t want to open my account. I want to open them for my maid and security guard. I already have accounts in three-four banks).

Praveen: Filhal humare pass toh form available nahin hai (Right now, we don’t have any forms available).

Tehelka: Nahin, woh aapki baat theek hai, lekin aisa toh koi rule nahin hain na ki woh kahin aur doosre branch me nahin khulwa sakta? (That is fine. But is there any rule that an account can’t be opened in another branch?)

Praveen: Mann hai uska iccha (It depends on the person).

Tehelka: Jahan chahe woh khulwa sakta hain na? (He can open it wherever he wants?)

Praveen: Haan (Yes).

Tehelka: Bhaiya, kab tak aa jayenge forms? (By when will the forms come?)

Praveen: Kuch pata nahin hai (I don’t have a clue).

Tehelka: Kitna? (How much?)

Praveen: Kuch pata nahin. Pichle ek mahine se nahin hai… maine apne ek mitr ka khulwaya barabar me Allahabad Bank main (I don’t know. Forms haven’t been available for the past month. I got my friend to open an account at the nearby Allahabad Bank).

Tehelka: Haan? (Really?)

Praveen: Aapne kaha tabhi main address dekh raha hu isme… Yeh dekho Indirapuram ka Vaishali ka address diya hai isme aur ye barabar mein account khula hai (You asked that is why I’m checking the address. See, the addresses mentioned are Indirapuram and Vaishali, and I got the account opened in the bank next door).

Tehelka: Yeh isi Allahabad Bank main khula hai? (It was opened at the neighbouring Allahabad Bank branch?)

Praveen: Haan (Yes).

Tehelka: Navyug wale mein? (In Navyug?)

Praveen: Haan barabar mein (Yes, just the next door).

Tehelka: Sir, Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana main jo account khul rahe hain na… (The accounts that are being opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana…)

Randheer: Ward number kitna hai? (What is your ward number?)

Tehelka: Ji ab ye ward toh pata nahi sir, sector pata hai (I don’t know the ward, but I know the sector).

Randheer: Ward number pata karo… apne pass 1-2-3 ward hai… sab bank waise baant diye na ye (Confirm your ward number… we have wards No. 1, 2 and 3… All the banks are divided that way).

Tehelka: Accha. Bank ke sir ward ke hisab se honge? (Ok. That will be done ward-wise?)

Randheer: Ward ke hisab se baant diye. Humare pass 1, 2, 3 hai (It’s being distributed ward-wise. We have 1, 2 and 3).

Tehelka: Sir, yeh matlab prashasan ne hi baant diye ya bank ne aapas mein? (Sir, this has been divided by the local administration or by the banks themselves?)

Tehelka: Ma’am, humare yahan jaise maid kaam karti hai ya chowkidaar hai (For my maid and security guard).

Verma: Haan khul jayega (Yes. It can be opened).

Tehelka: Toh kya kya requirement hain ma’am isme? (So, what are the requirements for this?)

Verma: Aadhaar card.

Tehelka: Aadhaar card?

Verma: Woh hi toh must hai (That is the only must).

Tehelka: Ma’am, jaise usme toh yeh hai na ki agar koi aur bhi aapke pass id hai… maan lijiye rashan card hai… rashan card se bhi khul jayega (But in that it is said that if you have any other id like ration card, you can open an account with that).

Verma: Aadhaar card must hai ab. Usme likha hai uid ko karaye aap..usme attach karaye usme thik hai.. Aadhaar card hoga toh hum khol denge (Aadhaar card is a must nowadays. It is written that you must link it to uid. If you have an Aadhaar card, we will open the account).

Tehelka: Bina Aadhaar card ke nahin khul payega ma’am? (It can’t be opened without an Aadhaar card?)

Tehelka: Jo Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana abhi chal rahi hai toh usme sir woh unka account yahan khulwana chah raha tha (I want to open an account in the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana).

Verma: Humare yahan toh khatam ho gaye hai form. Humare yahan khul gaye 10-12 hazaar account total. Mela laga ke kiya humne toh. Kisi aur bank mein dekho hota ho toh. Ek hazar wale toh hum khol rahe hain (We don’t have any forms… we have already opened 10,000-12,000 accounts. Try some other bank. However, you can open an account with 1,000).

Tehelka: Hazar wala toh savings account hai, sir! (But the 1,000 is a savings account!)

Verma: Woh khul jayega (That can be opened).

Verma: Dekh lo… kisi 10-12 bank hai (You can check in some other bank. There are 10-12 banks).

Tehelka: Haan ji, haan ji (Yes, yes).

Verma: Kisi se bhi form mil jayega (You can get the form from anywhere).

Tehelka: Main isliye puch raha tha kyuki Ganesh Nagar mein hi rahte hain toh maine kaha pass mein hi padega yeh bank bhi (I asked you because they live in Ganesh Nagar, so this might be the nearest bank).

Verma: Jo pass mein hai, usse pata karo (Try some other bank nearby).

Tehelka: Haan ji? (Yes?)

Verma: Lekin hazar wala khul jayega (But the 1,000 account can be opened).

Tehelka: Hazar wala khul jayega lekin woh zero balance wala mushkil hai? (The
1,000 account can be opened but the zero balance one is difficult?)

Verma: Woh nahin khulega (That can’t be opened).

Tehelka: Sir, mera nahin. Mere yahan joh maid kaam karti hai na, unka (Not for me. I am asking for my maid).

Anand Mohan Sahay: Unka address proof hai? (Do you have her address proof?)

Tehelka: Nahin sir, Ghaziabad ka toh nahin hai. Woh Bihar ki rahne wali hai (No, she does not have proof of living in Ghaziabad. She is from Bihar).

Sahay: Nahin hoga (Then it can’t be done).

Tehelka: Voter id hain unke pass (She has the voter id).

Sahay: Nahin. Humko yahan ka chahiye… Vasundhara ka chahiye (No, we want proof from Vasundhara).

Tehelka: Vasundhara ka hi chahiye? (You want proof only from Vasundhara?)

Sahay: Vasundhara ka hi chahiye. Unka toh Bihar mein hi account khulega. Jahan ka uska voter id card hai (We want of Vasundhara only. Or else, her account can be opened from Bihar, where her voter id is registered).

Tehelka: Nahin toh usme sir kuch hai na ke agar aap… (But sir, it is mentioned that…)

Sahay: I don’t want to have any argument. Main sabko bol diya hai… Voter id card jahan ka hai… (I have told everybody… From where you have the voter id…)

Tehelka: Hmm…

Sahay: Wahan se khulwao (Get it opened from there).

Tehelka: Toh address change ka application de sakte hai? (Can we provide the application for address change?)

Sahay: Agar kuch nahin hoga na, Government of India ka koi approval dijiye humko (If you don’t have anything, give some government approved document).

Tehelka: Nahin woh toh baat theekh hai, lekin kyonki mere ko aisa maloom tha ke shayad aap khol sakhte hai (That is ok. But I thought you could open the account).

Sahay: You are a customer of IDBI Bank. Aapko IDBI Bank me jana chahiye. Woh aapko jaante hain na. Humare yahan aapka bhi account nahin hai. Aapke bapuji ka account nahin hai. Ek third maid ke liye aap mere pass aaye. Jisko aap jante bhi nahin hai. First, you become my customer. Then I can take some risk on your behalf… (Go to IDBI Bank since you have your account there. They know you. Neither you nor your father have an account in my bank and you have come here to open the account for your maid, who is a third party).

Tehelka: Hmm…

Sahay: Toh pehle apna account kholo, uske baad uski parvai karo, ok? (First open your account, then worry about her).

Sahay: Aap bank mein enter karenge…main apko attend nahi karunga… aap phir kahenge arey #@#$ hum ek lakh rupiya jama kiye… ek lakh se account khole hai bank mein… (When you enter the bank, I won’t be able to attend to your needs… then you will say I have opened an account in the bank with 1 lakh…)

Sahay: Aur manager humko dekha nahi. maine kyu nahi dekha aapko… 100 logon ka account khole… bheed lagi hui hai…

Tehelka: Ma’am, 2-3 accounts joh open karwane they, toh kya requirement hogi? (I want to get 2-3 accounts opened. So, what will be the requirements?)

Burhan: Sir, hamara joh hai normal… humein joh documents chahiye… Aadhaar card chahiye… Aadhaar card is mandatory (The document required is the Aadhaar card. Aadhaar card is mandatory).

Tehelka: Ok.

Burhan: Apart from that, joh bhi ek aur id proof hoga woh chahiye humein… pan card hoga toh who chahiye. Aadhaar card will be taken as the address proof (We need another id proof. If you have a pan card, then the Aadhaar card will be taken as address proof).

Tehelka: Unke liye main baat kar raha hoon (I’m talking about them).

Burhan: Accha (Ok).

Tehelka: Aadhaar card mandatory hai? (Is the Aadhaar card mandatory?)

Burhan: Aadhaar card mandatory hai (It is mandatory).

Tehelka: Zaroori hai? (Is it mandatory?)

Burhan: Haan ji (Yes).

Tehelka: Uske bina open nahin ho payega? (It can’t be opened without that?)

Burhan: Nahin, Aadhaar card chahiye aur jo debit card hai abhi hum nahin issue kar rahe hain… RuPay card joh hai, debit card usse tie-up abhi nahin hua hai (No, we need the Aadhaar card and we will not issue you the debit card… We will not issue the debit card because we don’t have tie-up with the RuPay card).

Tehelka: Accha (Ok).

Burhan: Isliye usme jo hai na ek jo main feature hai account ka ki usme insurance cover milega… (Without that, you won’t be able to make use of the main feature, which is the insurance cover…)

Tehelka: Hmm…

Burhan: Woh nahin mil payega abhi aapko. Agar aap humare yahan se account open karwate ho aur baki Aadhaar card zaroori hai, sir (You cannot get that if you open your account from our bank. And the Aadhaar card is mandatory).

Tehelka: Zaroori hai? (Is it mandatory?)

Burhan: Haan (Yes).

Employee: Humare yahan peeche se order nahin hai… Abhi jo RuPay card hai na, usse humara tie-up hona baki hai. Joh uske sath RuPay card aayega na usse abhi baatcheet chal rahi hai… card jo aa raha hai na… (We don’t have the orders… we don’t have any collaboration with the RuPay card yet).

Tehelka: Accha, accha (Ok, ok).

YAMUNA VIHAR, NEW DELHI 

Tehelka: Humare yahan joh maid hai aur joh chowkidar hai, unka khulwana hai (I want to open accounts for my maid and security guard).

Sakshi: Sir, humare yahan camp lagte hain Saturday, Sunday. Woh basically Laxmi Nagar mein kuch particular area hain, wahan par khulte hain… Sir, Laxmi Nagar mein toh yahin par paas mein hai. Yahan par notice lag jata hai (Sir, we organise camps on Saturdays and Sundays. They are organised somewhere in Laxmi Nagar… It’s nearby. We put up a notice over there).

Tehelka: Accha. Toh abhi laga hua hai notice? (Ok. So, has the notice been put up there right now?)

Sakshi: Abhi toh nahin hai. Ho sakta hai aaj lag jaye (It’s not there right now. It could be put up today).

Tehelka: Sir, mujhe Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana mein account khulwana hai (I want to open an account in the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana).

Jastinder: Iske andar ek photo chahiye aur ek Aadhaar card chahiye. Agar Aadhaar card nahin hai toh phir nahin khul payega… Ek family mein ek banda account khol sakta hai. Yeh nahin hai ki 10 member ho toh 10 account khol lo (We need a photo and the Aadhaar card. If it is not there then it can’t be opened… In one family, only one member can open an account).

Tehelka: Ok.

Jastinder: Ek bande ka valid hai (Only one can be valid).

Tehelka: Aur yahan 10 ke 10 khol rahe hain? (Are 10 members from the same family opening accounts here?)

Jastinder: Log kahin jagah khol rahe hain bhai (Of course, people are doing it in so many places).
