Sarvesh who has been am a photo journalist with over 26 years of experience was beaten up by a Pandit in Vrindavan
According to his account.”On October 14, 2016 when I visited Vrindavan (Uttar Pradesh) on a professional assignment, I had the worst experience of my professional life. I had gone there to cover the Nastik Sammelan. While I was clicking pictures of the event, a person named Acharya Mridul Kant Shastri, son of Vishnu Kant Shastri of Patharpura of Vrindababan (UP) and others surrounded me and pushed me. They ordered me to stop clicking pictures. When I said it was my job to do so, he slapped me multiple times and manhandled my camera. I was completely shaken. I was hurt and it pained me a lot. I have all the video footages.
Sarvesh , who used to work with Hindustan newspaper and is currently freelancing said that .increasingly journalists are facing difficulty in doing their job in the country. In a climate where freedom of the press is being seriously undermined, I urge the Press Council to take note of this incident and take steps ensure that journalists are able to do their jobs without the fear of violence.

Photo journalist being beaten up by pandit is deplorable. This type of intolerance should be protested by civil rights activists. Journalist union should stand in solidarity with Sarvesh.
