Nawanshahr: Representatives of various Sikh organizations of the district today met the SSP and submitted him a memorandum in which they demanded strict action against the hooliganism created by the activists of different factions of Shiv Sena on the Nawanshahr-Chandigarh Road following the death of national president of Hindu Shiv Sena Abhishek Batta in a road accident yesterday morning.
The representatives, who earlier met at local Gurdwara Singh Sabha while condemning the ruckus created by Shiv Sainiks, also condemned the beating up of a Sikh by them (Shiv Sainiks).
“The way they treated and manhandled the Sikhs has deeply hurt the Sikh sentiments and the incident has the potential of disturbing the peace in the state,” they said. The memorandum demanded action against the alleged culprits under sections 295 A and 120 (B) of IPC, besides action under the relevant sections of the law for creating unlawful blockade on the national way.
The deputation comprised by Mohinder Singh Hussainpur, Jaswinder Singh, Hari Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Bahadur Singh, Harjit Singh, Jarnail Singh, among others.
