EMERGENCY CR STATION AUTHORIZED FOR RELIEF WORK IN TAMIL NADU!
We’re happy to note that after years of advocacy, it looks like the CR sector will finally be able to set up an emergency relief CRS to on a temporary basis in Vadalur in Cuddalore district, which is severely affected by the recent rains.
Kudos to WPC, which has taken the unprecedented step of issuing temporary frequency permission; and to BECIL, which has agreed to loan transmission equipment.
Thanks also to all the individuals and organizations who have worked to make this happen: John Nelson from the Saranalayam Trust in Vadalur; the District Collectorate of Cuddalore; Ram Bhat from Maraa; Sajan Venniyoor; Supriya Sahu, IAS; and N.Ramakrishnan from Ideosync.
Thanks also to Andrea Tazzari from Auroville Radio and Nagaraj for volunteering to help with setup and operations. With luck we should be live on 107.8 MHz in Vadalur tomorrow! Stay tuned!
For more information on the station, on how you can volunteer (the station is looking for Tamil-speaking volunteers who can come in – their stay will be taken care of by the Cuddalore administration), please contact N Ramakrishnan at Ideosync Media Combine at [email protected] or Ekta Mittal of Maraa at [email protected] or Ram Bhat of Maraa at [email protected] or Sajan Venniyoor at [email protected]
