Telangana: 13 Farmer Suicides In A Single Day

TelanganaAcross five districts in Telangana, 13 farmerscommitted suicide on Sunday. A report in Deccan Chronicle stated that this was the highest number of farmer suicides on a single day.

Four of the 13 suicides took place in Warangal district. Heavy rainfall destroyed the crop in some areas of the state.

The Telangana government had recently issued an order to help farmers, increasing the ex-gratia from Rs.1.5 lakh  to Rs.6 lakh.

According to the Deccan Chronicle report, the irrigation minister T Harish Rao has asked farmers to approach the district administration for any help. All the alleged suicides will be probed.

The Telangana government meanwhile has said that it is taking all necessary steps to help the farmers in the state.
