Cuttack, Nov 5:

BJP leader and Union MSME Minister Giriraj Singh today stoked yet another controversy by batting for stricter family planning norms to ensure a balance between Hindu and Muslim population in the country.

Singh said so while addressing BJP’s Rashtriya Ekta Divas rally in Odisha’s Cuttack today.

Singh said that the population of Muslims are growing fast leading to social imbalance. He suggested strict yet uniform for all religion family planning norms in the country to arrest the trend and ensure unity of India. Further, he pushed for strict enforcement of the law and action against violators.

“The temples are being demolished. Houses of Hindus are being looted. We cannot sit quiet under such circumstances. We (Hindus) were 90 percent of the population at the time of Independence. You may still think that we continue to be 90 percent, but it is no more so,” said Giriraj.

The minister said the Muslim population in the country is 21 crore and it is not proper to treat such a large population as minority.

Defending his argument further, he added, “People look at Muslims from electoral perspective. That is the reason they have not been added to the mainstream even after such a large growth in population. It is time to rethink the policy and bring them to the mainstream”.

It may also be mentioned here that Youth Congress and NSUI activists today showed black flags at the Minister  for his statement yesterday wherein he blamed former Prime Minister Nehru’s education policy for the lower ratio of skilled workers in the country.
