Authorities have ordered a probe against a doctor in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly performing sterilization surgeries on 27 women in an hour at a primary health centre in Chandauli.

“Chief Medical officer (CMO) has been asked to probe the alleged negligence in carrying out laparascopic tubectomy surgery on 27 women in one hour at a primary health centre at Niyamtabad here,” District Magistrate NK Singh said.

There were complaints that proper beds were not arranged for the patients ahead of conducting surgery and they were also made to recover on the floor, he said, adding, strict action would be taken against the health official responsible for this negligence.

CMO Chandauli R N Singh, however, refuted claims of sterilization surgery on 27 women performed by a single doctor in one hour and said that the surgery was performed by two doctors and all procedures were followed except arranging proper bed for the patients.
