In an embarrassment for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a prominent French newspaper Le Monde has refused to run his interview after it was told to publish his written answers and not to interact with him.

Le Monde’s South Asia correspondent Julien Bouissou on Friday tweeted, “Le Monde refused to run an interview of Narendra Modi after we were told to publish written answers, not to interact with him.”

Meanwhile, PM Modi on Friday met top French business leaders with an aim of bringing French investment and technologies to India particularly in infrastructure and defence sectors.

Modi, who is on a four-day visit to France, was accorded a ceremonial welcome after his arrival here at the Les Invalides, the seventh century courtyard.

After the ceremony, Modi attended two back-to-back meetings with French CEOs whose business are mainly focused on these two sectors. Modi’s plane Air India One touched down at the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris on late Thursday night.

PM Modi is also scheduled to address United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), after which he will attend a lunch hosted by the National Assembly president.
