Corruption is rampant in Asian countries. This fact is underlined by Forbes, which showcased a Transparency International list. Over the years, Asian nations have recorded a staggering rate of corruption. The report is based on an 18-month long survey by TI that outed the results of responses by as many as 20,000 people in 16 countries, regions and territories in Asia Pacific. India: 69% bribery rate: Bribery is rampant especially in five of the six public services – schools, hospitals, ID documents, police, and utility services – more than half the respondents have had to pay a bribe, shows the survey.

Vietnam: 65% bribery rate: Vietnamese consider corruption to be endemic. They also believe that it is spreading everywhere like a disease. They have also said that the government is doing a poor job in tackling corruption.

Thailand: 41% bribery rate: Thailand has been bearing the brunt of corruption since a long time. But, there is a silver lining as just 14 percent feel corruption had increased in last 12 months, and nearly 72 percent think the government is handling the fight against corruption fairly.

Pakistan: 40% bribery rate: Neighbouring country Pakistan bagged the fourth spot when it comes to bribery rate. About three-fourths of the respondents consider most or all of the police to be corrupt. Nearly 7 in 10 had to pay a bribe when they encountered courts or the police.

Myanmar: 40% bribery rate: Around half of the respondents believe that most or all police are corrupt, and 40% believe the judiciary is corrupt.
