“The concept of four wives and 40 children will not work in India and the time has come when a Hindu woman must produce at least four children in order to protect Hindu religion,” the Lok Sabha MP from Unnao in UP was heard saying at Sant Samaagam Mahotsava in Meerut on Tuesday, The Times of India reported .

He then added this:  “Kam se kam chaar bacche paida karo, ek seema par bhej do, ek hum santo ko de do” (Give birth to at least four children. Send one to the border and give one to us sants).

He also reportedly said at the same gathering that a law would be passed in Parliament to make cow slaughter and conversion punishable with death.

He also reportedly said that “no power on earth can stop the construction of Ram mandir in Ayodhya”.

Sakshi Maharaj is not new to controversy. Last year, he said Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse was a patriot. He subsequently apologised in Parliament.
