Mumbai: In a barbaric case, three members of the Jadhav family who belonged to a Dalit caste were brutally murdered and their body was dumped in a well in Javkhade Khalsa village of Pathardi town of Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar districts.

The mutilated bodies were recovered by cops four days later. The police are investigating into the gruesome murder case but the culprits are still at large and the motive behind the crime is still not known.

The incident came to light when farm workers noticed that the door of the house was open but the family members were not present. After being informed by the workers, the relative reached the spot only to find blood stains on the floor.

Later, the bodies of the couple – Sanjay Jadhav (42) and Jayashree (38) and their son Sunil (19) were found chopped in pieces in an empty well, which was 500 feet away from their house.

Angry relatives refused to perform autopsy unless senior police officers assured them of swift action against the culprits.

This is the third incident of Dalit killing in Ahmednagar district in the past few months.

Three Dalits from Sonai were allegedly murdered by members of an upper caste Maratha community in January 2013. In yet another incident, a 17-year-old Dalit boy of Kharde was murdered for allegedly having an affair with an upper caste girl.
