PATNA: Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi is on a rampage. Within days of the top JD(U) leadership talking him down to desist from making controversial statements, Manjhi on Wednesday questioned the “morality” of women whose husbands have been working outside the state after marriage for years. After his remark that “upper castes” were foreigners, his latest comment could invite summary action from Nitish Kumar.

“Everyone knows what these women do as their husbands remain outside after marriage,” Manjhi said at a function at Jhajhwa Pakdi village in Gopalganj district on Wednesday. The CM hoped the migration of workers from villages would stop with the launch of government-sponsored programmes.

Regarding his statement about upper castes, Manjhi on Thursday said it was based on historical facts. “I’m firm on my statement,” he told the media. “I didn’t say anything wrong.”
