Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI-M mouthpiece Deshabhimani on Saturday carried an advertisement from Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in its Kochi edition that has kicked up a new controversy.

The second page of the publication has featured an advertisement of Mahatma Gandhi Swachhta Mission, a project of Gujarat government.

Meanwhile, the Deshabhimani management has come out in defending the ad of Narendra Modi, saying that they carried it as a government advertisement from Gujarat.

P.M Manoj, Associate Editor of Deshabhimani, has said in his Facebook page that the publication doesn’t keep the idiocy not to receive the advertisements from the governments.

“It doesn’t matter, if we get advertisements from the Gujarat government, Mamata and Ommen Chandy, we will publish all that. We will bring in our politics through the articles and editorials. We have the openness to do that,” P.M Manoj said.

An advertisement of controversial businessman V M Radhakrishnan carried by theDeshabhimani hailing the CPI-M state plenum in Palakkad had drawn into a controversy.
