As per the Sexual Harassment of Women (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (PoSH Act) read with the Sexual Harassment of Women (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Rules 2013 (Rules), every employer including Government/Non-Government organisation employing ten or more employees is required to constitute an Internal Committee (IC) for enquiring into complaints of sexual harassment filed by any woman at workplace.
The Pune Women and Child Development Office via newspaper Sakal has issued the following general notice dated 24 July 2021 in print media “An internal grievance redressal committee should be set up in government, semi-government and private offices and establishments in the district to protect women from sexual harassment in the workplace. Also, if the protection committee is not formed, a fine of Rs 50,000 will be levied from September 1.
An internal grievance redressal committee should be set up in all the offices where ten or more officers and employees are working to prevent sexual harassment of women. It is also mandatory by law to put up the information about the same on the notice board in the workplace that is visible to everyone. The report of the committee should be submitted to the District Women and Child Development Officer’s Office, Gulmarg Park Housing Society, 3rd Floor, Near Vijay Bakery, Somwar Peth, Pune-411011 by August 30.”
