KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court of Nepal on Tuesday ordered the release of journalist and Sajha Yatayat Chairman Kanak Mani Dixit, who was detained by the anti-graft body CIAA on April 22.

After conducting a hearing on the writ of habeas corpus filed by Dixit’s wife, a division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sushila and Justice Jagadish Sharma Paudel ordered the CIAA to release Dixit on general date.

According to his brother Kunda Dixit, Kanak Mani Dixit, who apparently suffers from hypertension, is going back to the Intensive Care Unit of Bir Hospital from the apex court.

As he complained of hypertension on the very next day of the arrest, the CIAA had allowed Dixit to skip the police custody and take rest at the Hospital.

Today, the Supreme Court had barred the members of media from entering the court room for reporting.https://thehimalayantimes.com/nepal/supreme-court/
