Koraput: In a shameful incident, a minor girl was allegedly gang raped by four security personnel deployed in the area from anti-Maoist while she was returning from her school at Sorispadar under Potangi police limits in Koraput district  on Ovct 10th.

 

The Class IX girl is undergoing treatment at the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital now and she is stated to be stable now.

 

The incident have sparked tension in the area with locals and Koraput MLA Krushna Chandra Sagaria  staging protest in front of the office of Superintendent of Police (SP) demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.

 

“The culprits should be soon identified and arrested. We will intensify the demonstration if the culprits are not booked soon,” said Sagaria.

 

According to reports, the girl after returning from the school had gone to the nearby Kunduli-Hatpada market with her brother to click passport photographs, as needed in her school.

 

However, while returning her brother asked her to wait in the market as the former vehicle’s had developed some technical issue but the girl assured her that she could go alone.

 

Later, her brother hired an auto rickshaw and she left. As there is no proper road the minor’s village, the auto rickshaw left her at Marla in the district.

 

While she was walking to her village, the four in uniform abducted the minor and took her to the nearby forest. The jawas later gagged her mouth with a cloth and gang raped her and fled the spot after committing the crime.

 

The girl somehow managed to reach her house in pain following which she was rushed to Kunduli-Hatpada hospital and later shifted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in the district.

 

Following the incident, locals blocked Kunduli road  by burning tyres and demanded immediate arrest of the persons involved in the crime.

 

However, whether the security personnel were jawans of CoBRA or BSF is yet to be established.

 

“A special team has been formed to investigate the matter,” informed V.R Rao, Koraput SP.

 

On the other hand, the CRPF have refuted the presence of any of the CoBRA battalion jawans in the area.

 

“The site of the crime and the camp is situation at a distance of 40 km and none of our personnel were present in the area. Wherever we go, we move in battalion,” said Ram Charitra CRPF DIG (Operations).

 

“A case has been registered at the Potangi police station into the matter and investigation has been initiated. The accused will be soon identified,” stated DGP Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma.
