Witness to the abysmal conditions and hardships of the riot affected people in the vicinity, residents of Kairana town, Dabedi Khurd, Suneti and several other villagers in Kairana block in Shamli district have collectively taken initiative to set up a colony for riot victims. They are in the process of constructing over 300 houses for riot victims staying in several relief camps like Malakpur, Suneti, Khurgan, Barnawi and Dabedi Khurd. Haji Dilshad, an old farmer and resident of Khurgaan village has donated several bhigas of his land to help set up the colony.
Unfortunately, this initiative by the residents of Kairana block, has not received help from either the state or central governments or from the local administration, till date.
We urge you to attend the inauguration of this colony on the 2nd June, 2014. It is a mere four hour drive from Delhi. Our collective efforts and presence can help restore hope and communal harmony and rebuild several lives in the region.
Please also pass on this mail to organisations and individuals who you think would want to support this initiative. We also urge our friends in the media to please cover this effort.
