Saharanpur Dalit girl rape: The victim claimed that her school senior raped her in a hotel and forced her to consume poison.

Meerut: Despite claims of improved law and order in Uttar Pradesh, there seems to be no end to atrocities against Dalits especially women in the state.

In a shocking incident reported from Saharanpur, a Dalit girl student was raped and later murdered after being forced to consume poison.

The accused is identified as 16-year-old victim’s school senior. The incident took place on Thursday. Police said they have arrested the accused, who is from the same school as the victim.

The girl went missing from her school on Thursday and was found in an unconscious state in a field on the outskirts of the village. The girl was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed, according to a report in Times of India.

“The accused student has been booked for rape, murder and other relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused was arrested and sent to jail on Friday,” the report said quoting Rajesh Kumar, Saharanpur SP (City).

According to police, the accused lured the student out of the school on the pretext of buying her gifts. The victim’s brother told police helpline that the girl left home early Thursday morning for the exam in the school.

The girl’s teacher also contacted her parents when she spotted her bag on the desk but found the girl missing from the class.

The victim’s family said they got worried after she went missing and started searching for her. The family later found the victim in a semi-naked state in an agriculture field.

When the girl’s kin asked what happened to her, the victim said one of her school seniors took her to a hotel room, raped her and then forced her to consume poison.
