Jamshedpur: The West Singhbhum district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 at three places where Tata Sons chairman Cyrus P Mistry is likely to visit during his two-day stay in the Steel City from Tuesday.

The Dhalbhum subdivisional office has issued orders for clamping Section 144 in the wake of the request made by Tata Motors and Tata Steel security officials to ensure safety and security. The two Tata Group companies approached the district administration after JMM leader Babar Khan said he will organize a dharna at Tata Motors gate to communicate his viewpoint to Mistry about the issue relating to Tata Motors convoy drivers wage increment.

Mistry is scheduled to visit Tata Motors Works, Tata Steel Works and Gopal Maidan, to take part in the ongoing tribal conclave, Samvaad 2015, and XLRI Business school and the district administration has imposed Section 144 at the entry points to these venues.

The prohibitory orders came into effect from Monday afternoon and will be in effect till November 18. “Following requests from Tata Motors and Tata Steel officials, prohibitory orders have been imposed to ward off any unlawful assembly or agitation at identified places where Cyrus Mistry will visit during his two-day stay,” said Dhalbhum SDO Aloke Kumar.

During his two-day visit, Mistry will meet top executives of Tata Motors and Tata Steel before he flies over to Kalinganagar to part in a programme being held at Tata Steel Kalinganagar plant in Odisha on November 18.

“It is unfortunate that district administration has clamped prohibitory orders,” said Babar Khan.
