The Nashik Road police on Thursday booked six people from Mumbai and seized 400 kg of sus pected beef after receiving a tip-off.Deputy commissioner of police (zone II) Shrikant Dhivare said they received information about two SUVs carrying banned meat and accordingly a trap was laid at Sinnar phata area.

“The vehicles were heading from Sangamner to Mumbai and once identi fied, they were stopped,“ he said. “ Meat suspected to be beef worth Rs 20,000 was found and seized.“

The police booked Moham mad Hasan Qureshi Anik Yunus Qureshi Shakil Ahmed Munsiyali Bhujba, Shaikh Taufique Anis Ahmed, Rahimatcha Shabir Ansari and Sarafraz Shoukan Kokani all belonging to Kurla in Mumbai under the Maha rashtra Animal Preserva tion (Amendment) Act.
