Harrasment case against researcher Rajendra Pachauri
NEW DELHI: Questioning the ‘biased treatment’ meted out to Rajendra K Pachauri, the 29 year old research analyst who accused the scientist of sexual harassment at her workplace has written an anguished letter to the governing council of The Energy and Resources Institute (Teri). Stating that she feared for her “well being at the work place (Teri)”, the complainant in the sexual harassment case asked the governing council, “why are rules different for a select few? And is my work, safety and well being not important to the organisation?”
Are Indian organisations not worthy of the same treatment as the International ones? As an Indian citizen, I find such double standards further disheartening”. Mincing no words, she has stated “Dr Pachauri going on leave cannot be counted as a ‘measure’ adopted by him or the organisation. I too am on leave; it feels very unjust that both the victim and the perpetrator are at similarity in terms of steps taken post an official complaint of grave misconduct by the perpetrator. different for a select few?” She further said, “it pains me to see that no concrete action has been taken so far let alone the fact that my well being was not taken into account”.
“What I have faced at the hands of the most powerful man in the organisation is something I would not wish for anyone, man or a woman, to go through ever. I have been subjected to grave mental torture, deprave lewd behavior, carnal advances, all conversations laden with sexual innuendos and demeaning behavior at the workplace,” the complainant said. She has also written “it is very disturbing to see that a statement has been put up on the Teri intranet to explain the above incidents in an openforum. Not only that statement, titled ‘In Reality…’, flouts every aspect of maintaining a fair and free sentiment in the organisation, it is instead serving as a platform to encourage comments and debates for making demoralising and derogatory statements against the entire legal process as well as someone like me who chose to stand up to the grave misconduct at the work place.” Is Teri entitled to its own trial in addition to the proceedings of the ICC and those of the honourable courts?
The letter dated April 3 was sent to Prof BV Sreekantan, Deepak S Parekh, Naina Lal Kidwai, Dr Shailesh Nayak, Dr Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Hemendra M Kothari and Dr Henrik O Madsen. A detailed questionnaire sent to the members by ET went unanswered. “I am overseas and can’t spare any talk time”, texted Dr Kiran Mazumdar Shaw.” LEAD ROLE : Congress MP Raj Babbar at a farmers rally in Patna RSS Plans App to ‘Demystify’ Itself, Reach Out to Tech-Savvy Youth.

female view poinyt========= ind is not as modern as it is showed by media and Bollywood.. men and women are not equal here… why do we allow men and women to work together when no laws are theer to protect either against sexual harassment , rapes.. a complainant is fired for complaining.. she or he should suffer either ways.. iff u cannot help people then why show this modernism…. what for…..we had separate schools colleges workplaces for both men and women..atleast people were safe… sexual harassment and rapes were less..too much intermingling in indi culture is not safe….
